Hack The Box: Blue

Synopsis: Blue was a quick and dirty introduction to metasploit. I found it to be relatively straight forward with the biggest challenge being identifying the fact the machine was vulnerable to MS17-101 and selecting the correct exploit. I used ippsec’s walkthrough when I needed and leaned on SAN’s metasploit guide but I was able to do a fair amount of the work myself.

I started off with an nmap scan per usual and if the name of the box didnt give it away the fact that it was Windows 7 should be telling.

There are a few exploits for ms17-101. I ended up using /windows/smb/ms17_010_eteralblue.

After I got a shell and became authority the system was mine. All in all a good box for beginners.
